Salary data and salary estimates
We strive for salary transparency across the marketplace.
Company-provided salary ranges
We get this data from companies directly, so you can assume that the range is actually valid.
Sometimes you'll see a tag that says "AngelList Est". In these cases, we're computing a likely range based on similar roles. We do this because we weren't able to obtain data from the company, but thought the role was high-quality enough that job-seekers wouldn't want to miss it.
Here's an example:
We calculate estimates using comparable job listings at similar startups. When choosing comps, we factor for company stage, role type, role seniority level, and job location.
No salary data
Sometimes we won't display an estimate at all. This usually happens because we don't have enough good comps for a role to provide meaningful data. We try to keep these as rare as possible.
